2016 Olympic Games In Brazil

The Summer Olympics 2016, officially known as Games of the XXXI Olympiad, will be a multi-sport event held in the second half of 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The choice was made during the 121st Session of the International Olympic Committee, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 2 October 2009. The Summer Paralympics in 2016 will be based in the same city and organized by the same committee.

The event will take place between 5th to 21st of August 2016, and the Paralympics will be from 7 to 18 September of that year. The location of opening and closing will be the Maracana Stadium. The competition will comprise 28 categories, two more than in the Summer Olympics of 2012. The IOC Executive Board has suggested the inclusion of rugby sevens and golf, and were approved during the 121th Session.
